Terms and the medical-information boundary
Controlled document: ACC-DOC-TERMS (decision ACC-TERMS-001)
Candidate version: 0.3
Service and jurisdiction described: FND Guide at fndguide.co.uk, an
independent project based in England; England and Wales law applies
Facts checked: 5 August 2026
What this service provides
FND Guide provides checked, source-linked information about functional neurological disorder (FND): what it is, how it is diagnosed, treatment and support routes, practical UK rights, and a small checked directory of existing services and resources. It is UK-first and written primarily for adults with FND and the people supporting them.
Access is free. There are no accounts, and nothing on the site requires payment or registration.
The medical-information boundary
- This guide does not diagnose. No page, tool or checklist here can tell you whether you or anyone else has FND or another condition. Diagnosis belongs with a clinician who assesses the person.
- This guide does not give individual treatment or medicine instructions. It does not tell anyone to start, stop or change a dose. Medicine decisions belong with the person and their prescriber.
- This guide does not replace professional or emergency care. It is an information service, not a clinical service, and it cannot respond to urgent situations.
- New, changed, uncertain or worrying symptoms deserve ordinary medical assessment. An FND diagnosis does not make every later symptom “just FND”.
- If someone may be in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent medical advice in the UK, use NHS 111.
These boundaries do not reduce the project’s responsibility to maintain clear, source-linked information and correct or withdraw material when needed.
External resources and links
External services and resources are included to help people find existing support. A listing is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee of availability. External sites are controlled by their own operators and may change without notice. Directory entries show when their details were checked, and reports can lead to correction, suspension or withdrawal.
Private or paid services, where included, are labelled as such.
Use and reuse
- The guide’s original text belongs to the project owner unless a page says otherwise. Cited material belongs to its publisher.
- Pages may be printed and shared for personal, caring, educational or professional use.
- Short quotations should include attribution and a link, and altered text must not be represented as the guide’s wording.
- Downloadable worksheets and notes completed locally belong to the person using them; the website does not receive their answers.
- Automated republication must not strip away dates, evidence labels, safety boundaries or correction context, or present stale wording as current.
